When I drive and when I’m a passenger is someone’s car, I always buckle up. However, during a recent trip where I rode on buses I where buckling up was not an option, I began to think “why is it ok to not wear a seatbelt on buses and other transportation options like trollies?” Is it any safer to ride in a vehicle such as a bus? It’s one of those things in life that I take for granted. I’ve rode on hundreds of buses in my lifetime and never gave it much thought, until now. Occasionally, a bus will offer seat belts, but I’ll rarely use them out of habit. Since I only ride buses or other forms of public transportation when I’m on vacation or a business trip, I don’t think about it often. I wonder if anyone else has given much thought to this?

So I was traveling from Seattle, WA back to Las Vegas yesterday when I noticed this seat near Gate B-14 at Sea-Tac International Airport. Seriously, what the hell are they thinking? LOL Who is going to sit there? Hilarious.
When I read this headline in an article in Businessweek this morning, I was amazed. ITA is the company that created the software for Kayak.com, one of the best online travel sites for searching for the lowest fares & rates. Additionally, they are used by other major companies such as Orbitz, Bing, Continental Airlines, and Alaska Airlines. (click for full article)
Why is this important? Because Google will enter the travel industry with a big bang. Not only will they be able to track your online search tendencies, but they will also be able to track your travel preferences as well. This means there could be more online advertising opportunities in the future from Google. This could also mean higher advertising rates as well. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully, it will mean better targeted ad campaigns for the advertiser.
